What is Parental Burnout?

Parenting is one of the most beautiful experiences in the world, but parenting in the early years can wear you down in all areas of your life; many parents live in continuous stress and total exhaustion.
In addition, if you add to this the fact that you do not rest well, do co-sleeping or sleep in your room, and the added bonus of 24-hour alertness, it can lead to the destruction of your nervous and immune system, both physically and emotionally.

Side effects
Sleep deficiency is linked to many health problems such as heart disease, depression, obesity, premature aging, weakening of the immune system… Addictions and bruxism can also increase.
I had anemia, eating very healthy, I had empty reserves, I climbed a staircase and I had tachycardia, I was irascible, I started to cry out of nowhere, I lost my memory, I lost my reading comprehension capacity. Lack of patience, concentration, mental clarity and creativity.
Lack of sleep and exhaustion during this period have very harmful effects on health. It affects the couple’s relationship; 50% of divorces occur during these first 5 years of parenting.
As for my husband, he gained about 12 kilos. she turned all her hair white in 3 years, had polyps and would pass out with colic in the middle of the night in which she had several accidents. He had to be on sick leave for 9 months.
According to the latest studies, the cortisol level of a parent in burnout is higher than that of an occupational burnout. And higher than a person in severe chronic pain and victims of gender violence.
